About this Episode
Caregiver burnout is a state of physical, emotional and mental exhaustion. It may be accompanied by a change in attitude, from positive and caring to negative and unconcerned.
Mothers, healthcare workers, parents of special needs children, teachers, mental health workers, carers for elderly parents are just some of the people who are likely to experience chronic stress, and possibly burnout.
The experience is as if you have nothing left to give.
Burnout is far more serious than being stressed… it is a total shutdown if your nervous system and it can last for many weeks, and months.
I talk about ways you can start to move towards healing… bit by bit… moment by moment … it starts with you caring for and considering yourself along with all the other people you care for and consider. It’s not about choosing yourself only and neglecting others, but choosing yourself *also.
